SOUTH AFRICA’S DAILY COVID-19 CASES SLOW DOWN BUT DEATHS CONTINUE

South Africa’s daily COVID-19 infections are dropping, but deaths continue. Although there were only 2 810 new infections in the past 24 hours, 259 deaths were recorded. Total infections now stand at 568 919 and total deaths are 11 010.

Gauteng recorded the highest number of deaths at 108. It was followed by Kwazulu Natal with 74, the Eastern Cape with 46 and the Western Cape with 31.

432 029 people have recovered from the virus as of today, translating into a recovery rate of

75, 9%.

Globally, 214 985 new cases have been reported. Total global infections to date are 20 162 474. Deaths are 737 417.
