Scheme Rules


Ensuring continued compliance for affordable medical cover.

SAMWUMED’s medical scheme rules are subject to approval by the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) and stipulate the governance of the Scheme in terms of the Medical Schemes Act. These rules are reviewed and amended once a year in order to ensure that the Scheme complies with the prescribed minimum benefits and necessary chronic benefits as set out by the act.

The Scheme Rules serve to discuss in detail information relevant to SAMWUMED members, including registration, termination of membership, benefits and contributions, code of conduct, claims procedure, liabilities of the employer and members as well as changes to membership.
