Lindani Sibiya

Chairperson

Lindani Sibiya advocates for members’ interests and rights to a healthy life. His desire to become a Trustee at SAMWUMED was driven by the need to contribute towards good governance and service excellence at the Scheme.

Mr Sibiya uses his experience of working within a municipality and previously serving within South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) structures for many years to help him with his work as a Trustee. He was a full-time shop steward and a former SAMWU leader.

Currently, he serves on the Municipal Employees and Civil Servants Union (MECSU) as a representative.

Qualifications:

Mr Sibiya holds the following qualifications:

  • A Public Relations Assistant Certificate – Boston College
  • Advanced Labour Law – University of South Africa (UNISA)
  • Bachelor of Law (LLB) – University of South Africa (UNISA)
  • National Diploma in Environmental Education, Training & Development Practice – Delta Centre
  • Certificate in Advanced Trusteeship – Ditsela
  • Certificate in CMS Trustee Programme – The Gordon Institute of Business Science (Gibbs)

Nandipha Bhozo

Nandipha Bhozo was inspired to put up her hand for election to become a SAMWUMED Board of Trustees member by the Scheme’s “Change is Coming” Campaign, as she wanted to be part of the change.

Ms Bhozo is an Operations Supervisor at Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg’s state-owned company responsible for waste management.

She hopes that her negotiation, communication, and coordination skills will be used for the Scheme’s benefit.

Qualifications:

Ms Bhozo has a higher certificate in Operations Management and is studying towards a BCom in Business Management with UNISA.

Mampho Marule

“Being a SAMWUMED Trustee will give me an opportunity to provide support to a leading organisation. One that is making a real difference to people’s lives”, says Mampho Marule.

The Chief Payroll Officer adds that, apart from contributing her skills and expertise to a cause that is important to her, being a SAMWUMED Trustee will give her the opportunity to play a fundamental role in the strategic development of the Scheme.

Ms Marule believes that her municipal experience, leadership skills and her ability to solve problems will help her in the new role as a Trustee.

Mthokozisi Nzuza

Mthokozisi Nzuza’s goal and desire is to contribute meaningfully towards the sustainability and growth of SAMWUMED.

In addition, the Municipal employee, who is returning to SAMWUMED for the second time as a Trustee, wishes to use his leadership and management experience to ensure sound governance at the scheme. He was a SAMWUMED Trustee from 2009 to 2012.

Furthermore, Mr Nzuza’s various roles within the SAMWU Union, including being a former Deputy President and the Kwazulu Natal Provincial Chairperson can only assist him in fulfilling his role.

Sharon Dube

Sharon Dube is an advocate for medical aid transparency and member benefit improvement.

The former employee of the City of Cape Town, hopes to use her experience of working within a municipal environment and of healthcare to good use as a SAMWMED Trustee.

Ms Dube is not a stranger to the Scheme. She served in the same capacity between 2008 and 2014 and was also a member of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Scheme.

Having been a full-time shop steward for SAMWU, in addition to other union roles, Ms Dube hopes to make a positive impact on the Scheme.

Mapula Rose Letsoalo

Mapula Rose Letsoalo was motivated to become a SAMWUMED Trustee by her passion and love for the Scheme that she has been a loyal member of for the past 11 years.

She would like to see SAMWUMED remain competitive and also grow by looking after members and their interests – especially through improved health benefits.

Ms Letsoalo is currently working as an Administrator for the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality. Prior to that she was Secretary of the Speaker as well as Liaison Officer within the same Municipality. She brings knowledge of Unions and Municipalities to the Board, having been a Shop Steward for 10 years. In addition she brings knowledge of negotiations and managing disputes gained through SALGA local labour forums.

Ms Letsoalo holds Diplomas in Government Studies and Computer Studies.

Molwanta Ishmael Solomon

Molwanta Ishmael Solomon joins the SAMWUMED board of trustees to continue to serve his broader community. During his career he has served in various capacities including being PR Councillor for the Frances Baard District Municipality, a branch chair for the African National Congress (ANC) and Provincial Chair of the South African Workers Union (SAMWU).

In addition to the above, Mr Solomon also works for the Dikgatlong Local Municipality as a Water Maintenance Supervisor.

He is knowledgeable in various areas of water treatment processes and holds a National Certificate in Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations.

John Simphiwe Mcanjana

John Simphiwe Mcanjana was inspired to become a SAMWUMED Trustee because of the Scheme’s good governance and sustainability. With his contribution and commitment, he hopes to see SAMWUMED becoming a leading medical scheme in the local government sector.

Mr. Mcanjana holds the position of Area Coordinator for Client Services in the Community Service Directorate at George Municipality. He boasts extensive experience with labour unions, having served in various structures   of SAMWU and COSATU from Local to National since his election as a Shop Steward in 2005. Currently, he holds the positions of Provincial Secretary of  SAMWU in the Western Cape and Central Bargaining Committee of the SALGBC.

Qualifications:

  • National Diploma – Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University
  • National Diploma in Project Management – Durban University of Technology
  • BTech Degree in Public Management – UNISA

Mr. Mcanjana aspires to complete his LLB qualification. 

Monwabisi Langa

Siyabonga Dladla

Siyabonga Dladla is motivated to serve as a SAMWUMED Trustee because he believes that SAMWUMED provides quality healthcare to the working class at an affordable contribution.

Mr. Dladla works at eThekwini Municipality and currently serves at SAMWU Joe Moloisane (eThekwini) as a Regional Chairperson and served at Municipal Legislative committees such as Unit Labour Forums and at Local Labour Forum (Cluster)

  • Labour Economic Studies (Diploma) Workers College – University of KwaZulu-Natal Natal Howard
  • Bachelor of Social Science (Degree)-University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard
  • Bachelor of Arts (Honours) -University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard

Currently pursuing his Master’s degree in the field of Bachelor of Social Sciences.
