NEW COVID-19 CASES DROP TO BELOW 1 000

New COVID-19 cases dropped to 792 in the past 24 hours, whilst deaths dropped to 97. At the same time, active cases dropped to 41 872 from 42 728.

The breakdown of new deaths are as follows:

  • Free State – 30
  • Western Cape – 22
  • Gauteng – 15
  • Kwa-Zulu Natal – 8
  • Northern Cape – 8
  • Eastern Cape – 7
  • Mpumalanga – 7

Vaccination Update

The number of health care workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol is 23 059 as of 6 pm 22 February 2021.
