61 MORE COVID-19 DEATHS OVERNIGHT IN WESTERN CAPE HYPERTENSION AND DIABETES MOST COMMON DISEASES AMONGST DECEASED

News 24 has reported that 65% of people who died of COVID-19 in the Western Cape had a combination of underlying conditions, the most common being diabetes and hypertension. Others were HIV, obesity and asthma.

This as the Province records 61 more COVID-19 deaths overnight, bringing the total deaths in the Province to 890.

South Africa has 52 991 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1162 deaths and 29 006 recoveries to date. Of the new deaths, 61 were from the Western Cape, 11 from Eastern Cape whilst 10 were from Gauteng.
