WELCOME LETTER: PRINCIPAL OFFICER

Dear Valued SAMWUMED Member,

Thank you once again for choosing SAMWUMED as your medical aid of choice. We strive to deliver the best possible healthcare by enhancing our benefits to meet your needs at an affordable contribution rate.

Our 2024 Member Guide, available on our website, outlines both our benefit options and contributions for the current year. [Click here to download the 2024 Member Guide].

Ensuring Optimal Care and Benefit Utilisation

As part of our efforts to ensure that we provide you with the best possible care and make your benefits lasts longer, the Scheme requires you to nominate a General Practitioner (GP).  This facilitates better coordination of care and reduces unnecessary testing, as your GP will have a complete picture of your medical history, medications, and test results. They can then share this information with specialists, preventing redundant tests that could deplete your benefits.

Referral Requirements for Specialist Visits

Effective January 1, 2024, and to ensure coordination of care and the Scheme’s sustainability, members require a GP referral when being referred to specialists and auxiliary practitioners outside of a hospital setting. Orthodontics (practice type 64) remains the only exception, requiring a referral from a dental practitioner. [Click here to view the full Referral List]

Expanded Hospital Network

SAMWUMED is pleased to announce our updated hospital network, now including Netcare and NHN hospital groups. This expansion ensures comprehensive healthcare access when you need it most. [ Click here to download the hospital lists]
