South Africa’s COVID-19 cases rise to 22 583 and the deaths to 429. This is as the country prepares to move to Level 3 lockdown from 1 June.
A total of 583 855 tests have been conducted to date, whilst 11 100 recoveries have been registered.
Level 3 Lockdown
The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa said moving to Level 3 marks a significant shift in the country’s approach to the pandemic. It will mark the opening up of the economy and the removal of a number of restrictions on the movement of people, while significantly expanding and intensifying public health interventions.
The nationwide night-time curfew will also be lifted.
