SOUTH AFRICA REGISTERS 637 NEW COVID-19 CASES AND 12 NEW DEATHS

South Africa has confirmed 637 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of positive cases to 10 652.

At the same time, twelve (12) new COVID-19 deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 206. On the positive side, 4 357 recoveries have been recorded.

According to the Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, eight (8) of the deaths were from the Western Cape, two (2) from Eastern Cape, one (1) from KwaZulu-Natal and one (1) from the North West. This was the first COVID-19 death recorded in the North West.

Commenting on the infections, the Minister added that the Western Cape led other provinces with 52, 8%, followed by Gauteng at 18% and Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal Provinces both at 12, 7%.
