BACK PAIN IS A WAY OF LIFE

SHARE:

During the month of October the world observed Bone and Joint Week. The aim is to raise awareness about prevention, disease management and treatment of bone and joint disorders including arthritis, back pain, trauma, paediatric conditions, and osteoporosis.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), conditions related to muscles, bones and joints (Musculoskeletal) are the leading contributors to disability worldwide, with low back pain being the single leading cause of disability globally.

Unlike common belief, these conditions are not just for older people. They affect people of all ages. They negatively affect the quality of life as they stop people from participating in normal social activities, and are often linked to depression and high risk of development of other chronic conditions.

SAMWUMED covers its members for Bone Density and Osteoporosis screenings as part of their normal benefits. Click here for more https://samwumed.org/scheme-publications/
