AS COVID-19 SPREADS WE ARE BECOMING RELAXED

At a time when the country is entering a “COVID-19 Storm”, South Africans are becoming relaxed, says the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize.

People do not wear masks or when they do, they wear them incorrectly not covering their noses or mouths. In some parts of our country, especially in densely populated townships, there is no or very little social distancing. In the beginning, everywhere where one went, one would see people rubbing hands together as they wash their hands. One does not see this so much anymore, commented the Minister.

By continuing to wear masks, washing hands properly and practicing social distancing we will be preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus and protecting ourselves, those that we love, the elderly and vulnerable groups including those suffering from chronic disease such as diabetes, HIV, cancer, heart and other diseases.

We urge SAMWUMED members not to become relaxed in the face of this deadly storm. Let us all do our part to prevent the spread of this deadly virus.

Let’s team up to beat COVID-19.
