4 400 NEW COVID-19 CASES REPORTED & NELSON MANDELAY BAY DECLARED COVID-19 HOT SPOT

4 400 new COVID-19 cases and 94 new deaths, 42 of them in the Eastern Cape have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared the Nelson Mandela Bay a COVID-19 hot spot.

The following restrictions will apply as a result, from midnight:

  • 10pm to 4am curfew
  • The sale of alcohol from retail outlets will only be permitted between 10am and 6pm from Monday to Thursday
  • Alcohol consumption in public spaces, such as beaches and parks, is strictly forbidden
  • Gatherings, including religious gatherings may not be attended by more than 100 people for indoor events and 250 for outdoor events.
  • All post-funeral gatherings are prohibited
