ANOTHER HARD LOCKDOWN POSSIBLE AS SA COVID-19 CASES AND DEATHS CONTINUE TO INCREASE

In the past 24 hours COVID-19 cases have increased by almost 7 000 and deaths by 128. This, as the Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize says another hard lockdown is possible in an attempt to manage the spread of the virus.

As of today positive cases are 151 209 and deaths are 2 657.

In a report carried by News24, the Minister of Health expressed concern about Gauteng’s rising infections. He continued to plead with all South Africans to practice health protocols such as wearing face masks, social distancing and washing hands. “That’s the only way we can slow down the infection,” Dr Mkhize added.

Gauteng’s positive cases increased by just over 3 000 in 24 hours, whilst the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape increased by just over 1 000 in the past 24 hours.
