COVID-19 CASES IN SA SPIKE BY MORE THAN 5 600 IN 24 HOURS

South Africa’s COVID-19 cases spiked by 5 688 in 24 hours taking the national positive cases to 111 796. There were 103 new deaths in the same period, pushing the death toll from the virus to 2 205.
 
63 of the new deaths took place in the Western Cape, 25 in Gauteng and 15 in the Eastern Cape.
 
1 416 894 tests have been completed thus far and the number of recoveries to date is 56 874.
