South Africa’s COVID-19 cases surpassed the 100 000 mark with an increase of 4 288 in 24 hours bringing the national total to 101 590.
This, as Eye Witness News (EWN) reports that over 100 pupils at a high school in Mount Frere, Eastern Cape, have tested positive for the coronavirus.
It adds that “Since schooling resumed earlier this month, almost 200 schools have had to be shut down again after infections were detected”.
61 new deaths have been reported. 39 from Western Cape, 18 from Eastern Cape, 3 from Kwazulu Natal and 1 from Limpopo. The national death total now stands at 1 991.
