As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 7808 and 153 COVID-19 related deaths. According to the Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, two (2) of the latest deaths were from the Western Cape, one (1) from Limpopo Province and two (2) from KwaZulu Natal.
Furthermore, the Health Minister is quoted by Eye Witness News as stating that, more than 500 health workers had tested positive for COVID-19. Twenty six (26) of them were hospitalised and two (2) – a doctor and a nurse, had died.
On the positive side, 149 health workers had recovered.
