The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize today announced 95 new COVID-19 deaths. For the first time Gauteng recorded the highest deaths than the Western Cape. The province had 38 deaths, the Western Cape 29, Kwazulu Natal 16, and the Eastern Cape 16.
These new deaths bring the national total to 2 844.
The Minister also announced a further 8 728 new COVID-19 cases that occurred in the past 24 hours bringing the national total to 168 061.
Gauteng recorded 3 993 new cases, the highest daily increase of all the provinces.
