The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize has noted with concern that the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces combined make up 84% of new COVID-19 cases.
As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa stand at 10 015, with the Western Cape accounting for more than half of the cases at 5 168.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 deaths have risen to 194. Dr Mkhize reported that three (3) of the latest deaths are from Western Cape, one (1) is from Eastern Cape, and four (4) are from Gauteng.
To date 4 173 people have recovered.
