In addition to the already available screenings to test for cancer, SAMWUMED has added Cytology screening for 2022. This new benefit is available to members and beneficiaries once every three years.
Cytology is mainly used to screen for cancer. But it can also be used to screen for foetal abnormalities, and for pap smears, to diagnose infections. (Source: www.hopkinsmedine.org).
The screening test is important because, through it, diseases are found early even before they develop symptoms.
