SA RECORDS 240 NEW DEATHS 156 OF THEM IN GAUTENG

South Africa recorded 240 new COVID-19 related deaths, 156 of them in the Gauteng Province. This makes it the highest daily death toll to date, and it takes the total number of COVID-19 deaths in South Africa to 7 497.

The Eastern Cape recorded 34 deaths, Kwazulu Natal 27, and the Western Cape 23.

Meanwhile, 11 362 new COVID cases were recorded nationally in the past 24 hours. The new total for South Africa is 471 123

Globally, there have been 215 127 new cases. Total cases are 16 558 289 whilst deaths are 656 093.
