WE HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF BREAST CANCER SCANS

1 in 28 (3.6%) South African women will develop Breast cancer in their lifetime, according to OCESA, a non-profit Organisation for Cancer Education in South Africa. Although breast cancer is common in women over the age of 40, it also still affects younger age groups.

To assist members to guard against cancer, SAMWUMED has cut the number of years or frequency of breast cancer scans (mammograms) from every three years to every two years for female beneficiaries. This means the Scheme’s members benefit from early detection of the disease.
