SOUTH AFRICA’S DAILY COVID-19 CASES DROP

Figures released by the Department of Health show a dramatic drop in the daily infection rate of COVID-19. In the last 24 hours only 2 511 new cases were recorded. Similarly Gauteng recorded only 532 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases as of today in the country are 566 109.

However, there were 130 new COVID-19 related deaths, taking the national death toll to 10 751. The breakdown per Province is as follows:

  • 20 from Eastern Cape
  • 35 from Gauteng
  • 30 from Kwazulu Natal
  • 20 from North West
  • 25 from Western Cape.

The recoveries continue to improve and to date there is a recovery rate of 75%.

Globally, 216 033 new cases have been reported. Total global infections to date are 19 936 210. Deaths are 732 499.
