South Africa today recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in a single day.
216 people died from COVID-19 related complications, taking the national total deaths to 4 669. The highest number was in Gauteng (86). It was followed by the Western Cape with 47, Kwazulu Natal with 41, Eastern Cape with 25, Free Stat with 10 and Mpumalanga with 7.
There were 13 172 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total confirmed cases in the country to 324 221. The recoveries to date are 165 591
