South Africa now accounts for more than half of Africa’s COVID-19 cases. Whilst Africa’s total is 597 223, South Africa’s cases as of today are 373 628. A further 9 300 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 140 new COVID-19 related deaths took place in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 5 173.
Recoveries in South Africa currently stands at 194 865, whilst 2.4 million tests have been done to date.
The World Health Organisation (WHO), which is tracking global infections has reported more new cases and deaths world-wide.
