SA’S COVID-19 CASES INCREASE BY FURTHER 7 000 AND DEATHS BY 190

The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize has announced 7 232 new COVID-19 cases taking the national total to 459 761. He also announced new 190 deaths, taking the death toll to 7 257.

Kwazulu Natal, which recorded the lowest daily death a day ago, today recorded the highest daily death. The Province recorded 62 deaths. Breakdown of deaths in other Provinces is as follows:

  • 11 from Eastern Cape
  • 55 from Gauteng
  • 62 from Kwazulu Natal
  • 49 from Western Cape
  • And 13 from North West.

On a positive note, the recovery rate is increasing and today it stands at 62, 5%.

Globally, there have been 226 783 new cases bringing the global infection total to 16 341 920. Deaths have increase to 650 805.
