REGISTRATION AND DE-REGISTRATION OF DEPENDANTS

Did you know?

A member can have as many dependents as they wish. But there are rules that they need to abide by:

  • As a member, you are allowed to register your dependents onto your medical aid at the time that you join the Scheme.
  • If you decide to register you dependents as members late, they will have a waiting period of three (3) months whilst contributions are being paid – before being able to use their benefits.
  • You can also register a new-born or newly-adopted child as a dependent. But it has to be done within 30 days of the date of birth or adoption of the child.
  • If you marry after joining the Medical Scheme, you are allowed to register you spouse as a dependent. However, this has to be done within 30 days of the marriage taking place. However, the spouse cannot be a member of another medical aid.

In both cases, the member will pay increased contributions, which will become effective the following month after the registration of the dependents has taken place.
