MEMBERSHIP – DEPENDANTS OF DECEASED MEMBERS

The dependents of a deceased Member, who are registered with the Scheme as

dependents at the time of the member’s death will still be entitled to membership in the Scheme without any new restrictions, limitations or waiting periods.

Where children dependents have been orphaned, the eldest child will be considered as the member, provided that the premium contributions are based on the gross monthly salary earned by the deceased member in the month immediately before his or her death.

The spouse or partner of a deceased member, who is registered with the Scheme as his or her dependent at the time of the member’s death, will retain membership of the Scheme provided that the premium contributions are based on the gross monthly salary earned by the deceased member in the month immediately before his or her death.

However, the membership in the Scheme will be terminated if the spouse joins another medical scheme or becomes a dependent of a member of another medical scheme.
