COVID-19 CONTINUES TO TAKE LIVES BUT RECOVERY RATE CLIMBS

COVID-19 continues to take lives each day. Today is not any different. 126 people died in South Africa in the past 24 hours from the virus. This is despite a recovery rate of 86%. The death toll now stands at 13 628.The breakdown is as follows:

  • 48 from KwaZulu-Natal
  • 33 from Gauteng
  • 25 from Eastern Cape
  • 20 from Western Cape.

On the other hand, 2 585 new cases have been recorded, bringing the total cases since the start of the pandemic to 618 286

Globally, 267 670 new cases have been reported. Total global infections to date are 24 021 218. Deaths are 821 462 since the beginning of the pandemic.
