On Cancer Survivor’s Day, we celebrate the lives of all our members who are Cancer Survivors. SAMWUMED also unites with people around the world in recognising and celebrating all other Cancer Survivors in South Africa and around the world.
According to Cancer Atlas, the number of cancer survivors is rising worldwide, as a result of advances in early detection and treatment. It adds that in 2018, there were approximately 43.8 million cancer survivors diagnosed within the previous 5 years.
Whilst some cancer survivors thrive, others face challenges. For instance, fear of the cancer recurring, depression, pain, memory problems and relationship issues.
That is why SAMWUMED has a comprehensive Cancer Management Programme that provides a holistic support to members with cancer.
