VACCINATION ROLL OUT EXPECTED TO START TODAY

The first batch of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines arrived in South Africa yesterday and the roll out will start among healthcare workers today, according to ENCA.

The same news agency quotes the South African Medical Association (SAMA) as saying that the vaccine will be administered at 17 sites.

Meanwhile,

1,210 people contracted the COVID-19 virus and 219 others died in the past

24 hours.

The breakdown of new deaths are as follows:

  • Gauteng – 56
  • Kwa-Zulu Natal – 43
  • Western Cape – 38
  • Limpopo – 29
  • Eastern Cape – 20
  • Northern Cape – 14
  • Mpumalanga – 10
  • Free State – 9
