300 PEOPLE DIE AND 8 147 OTHERS CONTRACT COVID-19

300 people have died and 8 147 others contracted the COVID-19 virus in the past 24 hours.
The latest statistics take the total confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic to 1 412 986 and deaths to 40 874.
The breakdown of the new deaths are as follows:

  • -Western Cape – 105
  • Eastern Cape – 43
  • Free State – 15
  • Gauteng – 45
  • Kwa-Zulu Natal – 70
  • Mpumalanga – 6
  • North West – 14
  • Northern Cape – 2
