EXPONENTIAL RISE IN COVID-19 CASES AS SA RECORDS OVER 8 000 NEW CASES

There is evidence of an exponential rise in the number of COVID-19 cases says the Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize. This as 8 166 new cases are recorded in the past 24 hours. Dr Mkhize continued to plead with South Africans to wear masks, practice social distancing and wash their hands.

At the same time 173 people died from COVID-19 related complications in the past 24 hours, 90 of them from the Eastern Cape. The breakdown of other deaths is as follows:

  • Western Cape 52
  • Free State 13
  • Gauteng 8
  • Kwa-Zulu Natal 10
