2 080 more people contracted COVID-19 virus in the past 24 hours, 1 314 of them from the Eastern Cape.
At the same time 65 new deaths were recorded. Again, the highest number of deaths were in the Eastern Cape with 26. Other Provinces which registered deaths were:
- Free State – 19
- Gauteng – 2
- Limpopo – 3
- North West – 8
- Western Cape – 7
Current active cases are 37 596. The Eastern Cape and Western Cape account for the highest active cases with 11 099 and 7 731 respectively.
