New COVID-19 cases dropped yet again. The latest data released by the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize indicates 845 new cases in the past 24 hours and a national total of 639 362 since the beginning of the pandemic.
566 555 people have recovered from the virus, translating to a recovery rate of 88,6%.
On the other hand, 115 people died in the past day from the virus. Total national deaths are now 15 004. The breakdown of the latest deaths is reflected below:
- 25 from KwaZulu-Natal
- 5 from Gauteng
- 12 from Eastern Cape
- 7 from Free State
- 10 from North West
- 13 from Western Cape
- 43 from Limpopo.
Globally, 265 818 new cases have been reported. Total global infections to date are 27 032 617. Deaths are 881 464 since the beginning of the pandemic.
