SA RECORDS 2 684 NEW CASES AND ANOTHER 194 NEW COVID-19 DEATHS

The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize has reported 2 684 new COVID-19 cases which took the national total to 615 701 since the beginning of the pandemic.

At the same time, he reported 194 new COVID-19 related deaths which took the national death toll to 13 502. Similar to the last reporting, Gauteng leads other provinces with the highest number of daily deaths. It recorded 61 new deaths in the past 24 hours. The breakdown of other Provinces is as follows:

  • 57 from KwaZulu-Natal
  • 4 from Northern Cape
  • 12 from Eastern Cape
  • 60 from Western Cape.

The recovery rate improved by 1% to 85% compared to the last report.
 
Globally, 210 183 new cases have been reported. Total global infections to date are 23 752 965. Deaths are 815 038 since the beginning of the pandemic.
