RECOVERY RATE IMPROVES TO 82% BUT COVID-19 DEATHS CONTINUE

COVID-19 recovery rate continues to improve and is now sitting at 82% with 485 468 people having recovered from the virus in South Africa.

However, deaths continue. In the past 24 hours, another 282 people died from COVID-19 related complications, taking the total deaths in South Africa to 12 264. Gauteng recorded the highest number at 89. Others are as follows:

  • 66 from Eastern Cape
  • 57 from KwaZulu-Natal
  • 3 from Northern Cape
  • 13 from Free State
  • 34 from Western Cape
  • 20 from North West.

2 258 new cases were identified in the past 24 hours. The total confirmed cases now stands at 592 144.

Globally, 206 440 new cases have been reported. Total global infections to date are 21 756 357. Deaths are 771 635.
