SA COVID-19 DEATHS SPIKE AS 555 PEOPLE DIE IN TWO DAYS

The Minister of Health has reported 315 new COVID-19 related deaths in the country, following yesterday’s report of 240. This takes the national death toll to 7 812 and 555 deaths in two days.

The Eastern Cape took over from Gauteng as the Province with the highest daily deaths after 121 people died from the virus in the last 24 hours. Yesterday Gauteng had recorded 156 deaths.

The Eastern Cape was followed by Gauteng which recorded 96, Kwazulu Natal 55, Western Cape 34 and the North West 9.

Meanwhile, national cases climbed to 482 169 following 11 046 new cases.

Globally, there have been 253 810 new cases. Total cases are 16 812 763 whilst deaths are 662 095.
