SOUTH AFRICA’S CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES PASS THE 300 000 MARK

South Africa’s COVID-19 cases passed the 300 000 mark today to reach a total of 311 049. This is following an increase of 12 757 new cases in the last 24 hours.  At the same time the death toll reached 4 453 following 107 new COVID-19 deaths.

Gauteng continues to lead other Provinces with the number of daily infections. This time, 5 644 have been recorded, compared to the Western Cape’s 1 357 and the Eastern Cape’s 1 625 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Of the new 107 deaths, the highest number (41) was from Gauteng.

  • 4 were from Kwazulu Natal
  • 12 from North West
  • 12 from Eastern Cape
  • 38 from Western Cape

The number of recoveries is 160 693 to date, whilst the number of test conducted to date are more than 2.2 million.
