SAMWUMED appointed a pharmacy network as the Designated Service Provider (DSP) for the dispensing of chronic and HIV medication.
It is important that members only use the pharmacies on the network when filling medicine scripts. If you choose to collect your chronic medication from a pharmacy that is not on this network, you may have to pay a 25% co-payment on the cost of the medicine.
The pharmacy where you collected your chronic medicines from last year has unfortunately not signed up with the 2025 pharmacy network. You need to find an alternative pharmacy or make use of a courier pharmacy to avoid non-DSP co-payments from 1 March 2025.
Members are reminded of the 25% co-payment that applies when choosing medicines that are not on the scheme’s medicine formulary. To avoid any co-payments or levies it is important to choose the suitable generic the pharmacist recommends.
