5 163 NEW CASES & 175 DEATHS AS FESTIVE RESTRICTIONS ARE INTRODUCED

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced new restrictions ahead of the festive season, aimed at slowing down the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The new restrictions include the following:

  • Beaches in the Eastern Cape and the Garden Route will be closed from Wednesday to January 3.
  • Beaches in KwaZulu Natal will remain closed on the busiest days such as December 16, 26, 31 and January 1 and 3rd
  • Bars and restaurants must close at 22:00
  • No more than a 100 people for indoor events and 250 for outdoor events
  • All post-funeral gatherings, such as “after tears” are banned
