17 421 NEW COVID-19 CASES RECORDED NATIONALLY & 339 DEATHS

17 421 people contracted the COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in South Africa, whilst 339 other died from the virus.

The latest data brings confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 1 231 597 and deaths to 33 163.

Of the 339 new deaths, the highest tally was in the Western Cape with 113. The breakdown of the rest of the Provinces is as follows:

  • Eastern Cape – 77
  • Free State – 19
  • Gauteng – 28
  • Kwa-Zulu Natal – 71
  • Limpopo – 14
  • Mpumalanga – 10
  • Northern Cape – 7
