139 people have died due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, 124 of them from the Eastern Cape.
At the same time 4 116 others have contracted the virus nationally in the past 24 hours. The new statistics pushed total deaths to 22 206 and total cases to 814 565 since the start of the pandemic.
